Our Review

A Feng Shui contemporary hotel, Legends offers great value.
LUX* Grande Gaube is set around a heavenly cove, with sheltered lagoon water ideal for paddling in.  Designed around the elements of water, earth, wood, fire and metal, this hotel will appeal to those in search of harmonious and stylish surroundings.  If you are travelling with just one child and enjoy your own space the spacious wood themed Junior Suites are a good option. You will love their Jacuzzi bathrooms that open onto a large balcony complete with your own sun beds. Or, for the ultimate in luxury, try the Emperor Villa which has a private beach, pool and even its own barbecue.  There is plenty to do to suit all ages at LUX* Grande Gaube and refreshingly the majority of the activities are at no additional cost. The excellent children’s club "PLAY" accepts children from 3 until 11 and there is also a Teens Club "Studio 17" for older children.  For children under three baby sitting can easily be arranged at a reasonable cost – hiring a babysitter for a couple of hours while you enjoy a long lunch or massage treatment is a great way to have a break from even the youngest  children.  The many water sports offered can be a great activity for everyone in the family to do together, be it a glass bottom boat trip or a ride out on a pedalo.

There are six excellent restaurants, of which our favourite, the lunch time ‘La Bastide’, serves delicious Mediterranean food and has stunning views over the lagoon. The atmosphere is relaxed enough to ensure that you feel welcome  even with noisy toddlers, however it still manages to retain a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere to ensure parents don’t  feel they are compromising on where they stay to suit their children.  Our favour part bit about this hotel is being able to watch your children in the pool and then on the beach without having to leave your sunbed!

      Customer Reviews

2nd time around and we still love it.

The hotel is set in a beautiful bay with stunning blue sea. There are excellent swimming pools and plenty of space to sunbathe. The children enjoyed the swimming, the kids club, the food and the entertainment in the evening. The free water skiing was a great hit even with the youngest child. We would say that Mauritius is an ideal family destination however it is quite a long flight and the food on BA is appalling. It may seem odd at a beach hotel but the children’s’ channel on the TV was a real bonus for early risers! We didn’t use the baby sitters as our children are a bit older and they were fine on their own. We escorted them to their rooms but the hotel felt very safe and we had rooms near the dining area. The hotel did also have a good children’s menu but ours preferred the adults options. I think Legends provides a great balance and that is why we have now been twice. I have little doubt that we will return again in due course.
