Our ReviewA rare find of a stylish elegant hotel which is as welcoming to its child guests as it is to its adult guests.
At the time of visiting the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, visiting family friendly hotels was still fairly new to us. I realised the Four Seasons lived up to its reputation of welcoming the youngest guests as soon as we arrived. It was the first time that when we given a welcome drink our one year old daughter was also given one, rather than our delicious but potent ginger mix, she was handed a small beaker of apple juice and a straw which she greedily gulped down. The child friendly approach continued into our room where we found not only a cot but a nappy bin, supply of a nappies and a soft toy. The beautifully designed family pool is designed as much for adults as for children with back massage jets and whirlpools. The service isn’t compromised with a pool butler offering cooling water sprays, iced towels and cold water – even a suncreaming service should you require it. However being a dedicated family pool it tends to have a lot of families around it so you don’t feel bad, despite being in such elegant surroundings should your little ones shout in the excitement of being in such a cool pool. The alternative adult pool is probably one of the most peaceful pools I have ever been to and the private cabanas are perfect for some QT with your husband! Of course to do this you need to temporarily re-home your little ones this is where the wonderful Kids for all Seasons Kids Club comes in. This wonderful kids club is complimentary and open daily for children aged between 4 and twelve. Located just behind the family pool it has great facilities and wonderful staff. If like ours your little one is younger than four and you still want to take advantage of some time on your own then I would suggest booking one of their excellent babysitters who can keep an eye on them while they sleep or take them to the kids club or onto the beach while you enjoy some much needed R and R. The large soft sand beach is also perfect for children and should you not want to walk back to the pool bar for a drink you are given a button you can press to summon you waiter, a pretty cool idea but best kept away from little hands! There is a great children’s menu which is available at all the restaurants and each restaurant provides mini plates and cutlery and high chairs. Our daughter was going through a stage of throwing her cutlery onto the floor, each time she did it the waiter rushed over to pick it up and provided her with a clean set, we did point out this really wasn’t necessary but he was having none of it. While most guests opt for a babysitter while they have dinner and the restaurants are fairly formal they are just as happy to have your little one in the restaurant. For an elegant hotel which is as welcoming to noisy little ones as it is to the chicest adult guests the Four Seasons really can’t be beaten.
