Our Review

A truly spoiling hotel on a great beach, one of the best in the Caribbean for families.Arriving at Carlisle Bay with our two children under two directly from the international flight on which neither slept you would expect tempers may be slightly short. The fact that Carlisle Bay managed to keep them both happy and awake is testament to just how wonderful it is. As we were shown into our suite, Inca headed straight out onto the beautiful beach, her delight of being on the soft sand was increased by the cleverly placed toy chests every few meters along the beach filled with buckets, spades and all sorts of other beach goodies. As I fed our youngest daughter on the day bed on our terrace and watched Inca blissfully happy on the beach in front of me I realised just how perfect this hotel is for children. Each suite is irresistibly spacious with cool calm interiors and fantastic ocean views. The space is great for families but it is the being right on the beach that makes them so perfect. You can happily sunbathe in front of your suites while the little ones have a nap or enjoy a sundowner while they dig in the sand in front of you. The mini dressing gowns (thoughtfully without the cords), milk and cookies at bedtime and even a bottle of washing up liquid in the bathroom are some of the very many touches that make you realize this hotel really thinks about families. It is one of the very few hotels however that is on the one hand so well catered to for families but is just as perfect for honeymooners. Like most of the best hotels around the world, eating and drinking at the hotel is not cheap, however touches such as complimentary high tea for the children and afternoon tea for the adults soften the blow. The Carlisle has two outstanding restaurants – Indigo on the Beach, offering delicious healthy grills, seafood and salads and East, offering exciting Asian food in a stunning setting. Health, wellbeing and feeling fantastic are fundamental to Carlisle Bay’s philosophy and there’s an exceptional Spa, Blue. Blue is one of the first in the world to introduce Living Nature Spa Therapy, a range from New Zealand blended from authentic pure and natural ingredients. There are six luxurious treatment rooms, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, yoga and Pilates, juice bar, sauna, plunge pools and chill-out areas. One of our favourite touches to this hotel is the luxurious screening room with its large leather seats showing great movies in the evenings. It is such a treat to be able to go to the cinema while on holiday knowing your little ones are safe in the kids club or asleep watched over by a babysitter. Reading about the amount of facilities this hotels has to offer including the fantastic kids club, nine tennis courts, myriad water sports I was expecting a much larger resort hotel but in fact the hotels has a surprising small and intimate feel but with all the benefits of a larger hotel.
