Our ReviewIndigo Bay is situated on the Island of Bazaruto, in the heart of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Due to their exquisite beauty this chain of islands has been named as ‘The Crown Jewels’ of the Western Indian Ocean. Mozambique is a great beach destination to combine with a safari in South Africa and with flights directly from the Kruger it is relatively easy to reach. Indigo Bay is the ideal family choice. The beautiful island is very unspoilt yet the hotel still manages to offer the range of activities and facilities that you expect of a larger hotel. Accommodation is offered in beach chalets or two bedroom beach villas. The villas having a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor dining area so are particularly great for families with younger children. The main areas as well as the rooms have been built using natural materials such as reed, thatch and wood ensuring it all blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings. There is plenty to do for children and adults, the large sandy beach is a hit with all children but there is also, unusually for Africa, a Kids Club. The Kids Club is open daily from 8am until 5pm but is only supervised at certain times, however they will always do their best to ensure there is supervision should your child wish to be at the Club. Children under three are also welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or babysitter. The activity centre can help with organising things for adults or older children to do including diving, deep sea fishing, riding, tennis, snorkeling and water skiing. If being in Africa doesn’t relax you enough the ultra-luxurious new Sanctuary Spa will surely do. Meals are generally in the form of buffet style so while no children’s menu as such is provided there is plenty of choice for them.
Total: 30 Chalets and 14 two bedroom villas. The villas have a private plunge pool.
FAMILY ROOMS… The Beach Chalets can accommodate one child under the age of 12yrs. The lodge has two beach chalets which inter-connect. The ideal accommodation would be the Bay View Villa and Presidential Suites which can accommodate two children and two adults.
