Our Review

The ultimate in parent and child accommodation in an elegant and refined setting.

This is the senior and slightly more grown up sister hotel of the Almyra. Between the two of them there is something that will suit most tastes. Where the Alymra is young and contemporary in style the Anassa is more elegant and refined. In fact this is much less of a family hotel than the Alymra and a hotel we also highly recommend for honeymooners and couples. However for families it has the benefit of having all the facilities for children that the Almyra has. The Smiling Dolphin Kids Club is open from April to October and will take your 4-11 year olds off your hands in the mornings and afternoons. It also has a very good crèche for 4 mths to 4 year olds. The splitting of these two groups, for us, is a great idea. If you have a Kids Club with toddlers up to 11 year olds then the smaller ones can easily get forgotten in favour of the noisy older children. The huge plus point to this wonderful hotel is the easy access to the huge beach. This is situated just below the main pool and has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It also has daily service so you won’t have to leave the comfort of your sunbed to order a refreshing drink. Although like most parents you will probably spent most of your day chasing your youngster up and down the beach. And for children wanting to swim in pools – there are 3 of them. Including a heated pool for any little people who feel the cold. They even have a lawn with sunbeds on so your children can play on the grass where you can see them and they have thoughtfully provided gazebos around the pool to keep the sun off. Even though the hotel is so well suited to families the amount of space they have means that it is still incredible peaceful. It also helps that it is well away from any local towns in on an unspoilt stretch of coast line. The rooms, whilst not as contemporary as the Almyra, are all elegantly decorated in light colours and are a very good size. You may even decide to have a private plunge pool should your children be on an age where this isn’t a worry. There are 3 main restaurants and a pool restaurant as well as a pool bar for light sandwich lunches. The fine dining restaurant open in the evenings only doesn’t accept children and is open in the evening. Their main restaurant tends to be a buffet for half board guests and the food is all light and Mediterranean. It is also has a beautiful outdoor terrace, for breakfast and dinner, overlooking the sea below. We found (and this may well change) that Cyprus has some of the best flight times of any European destination. The BA flights leave Gatwick at a reasonable time and return in the late afternoon after you have had a relaxed morning at the hotel. A top tip here is to stay at the Sofitel hotel the night before your departure which is linked to Gatwick North Terminal to ensure a really relaxed start to your holiday. All in all we loved this hotel. The huge gardens and beach allow any noisy nippers to let off steam without you worrying about the other guests and the family facilities help give you a relaxing holiday. The restaurants (other than Basilico) all have great children’s menus and they even have a complimentary infants menu of blended delicious sounding options both on room service and in the restaurants. So good was the blended chicken and rice that poor Inca had a fight to stop her father finishing it for her. It is worth noting that the location of this hotel means that you won’t be able to walk out to other restaurants and as with many beaches in this area of the Med the beaches are very fine grain pebbles rather than sand. However the water is crystal clear and great for watersports and snorkelling.
