Our Review

A stylish, exotic boutique hotel, ideally located for exploring the heart of MarrakechIt is with good reason that La Sultana is known as one of the best riads in Morocco. Opulent Moroccan styling gives this hotel a truly luxurious feel. Created out of four historic riads La Sultana boasts more space than many hotels in central Marrakech. Each of the 21 rooms and suites are individually decorated but all are wonderfully exotic in style with an abundance of rich colours and ornate furniture. I don't think I have every stayed in a room with quite such an impressive ceiling. All of the rooms look over the inner courtyard as is typical of a Riad, this does however mean there is little natural light the look is more romantic and moody than bright and airy. This does keep the rooms nice and cool though which is great for young children, particularly in the hotter months. There are plenty of main outdoor areas complete with palm and orange trees, the wonderful roof terrace is a great sunbathing spot and has a plunge pool to help you keep cool. For the more active the heated pool on the ground floor terrace has a jet stream to swim against. End your day with a spa treatment or a traditional Moroccan Hammam, before drinks in the unusual bar with views into the pool before enjoying a delicious dinner.

Useful Stuff

SUITABLE FOR… The riads in Marrakech are most suited to babies who are not yet mobile – the limited space of Riads means there isn’t a lot of room for children to let of steam plus its tricky to push buggies through the Souk so your baby needs to be small (and light) enough to go in a baby carrier. We travelled with Inca at 7 months and found this an ideal age. Teenage children – girls in particular will enjoy the shopping in the Souks.

ARE WE THERE YET?... 15 mins from the airport.

I’M HUNGRY… The hotel does not have a set menu for children but they are able to assist parents who require something special for their children. Children are allowed into all restaurants at any time.

BABYSITTING & COSTS… Babysitters can be provided and require 48 hours in advance notice. The cost is 60Dhs per hour (approx £5.00) and after 23h00 110dhs per hour (approx £8).

COSTS FOR CHILDREN… Children 0-2yrs are accommodated free of charge if sharing with parents.

PRICES FROM… 1440Dhs per person per night (Approx £110.00) in a Prestige Room on Bed & Breakfast.

WHAT YOU DON’T NEED TO PACK… The hotel can provide baby cots, highchairs and car seats for transfers, however you will need to pack everything else you require for your children.
