Our Review

This tranquil hotel on the Atlantic Coast provides the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.Built in the style of a lavish Moorish fortress and situated in a unique location sheltered by cliffs, bordered by green pastureland and salt-water marshes, La Sultana is a wonderful hideaway far removed from the crowded beaches of Southern Morocco. The rooms and suites are beautifully designed using natural materials including lots of warm honey colored stone; all have large private terraces with private seawater Jacuzzis. The rooms are all of a good size but if you want to have your child / children in a separate area then it would be worth taking a suite. Children who love water will be in heaven at this hotel. The outside swimming pool with is 40 meter infinity edge appears to flow into the lagoon and out into the ocean. Surrounded by elegant cream sunloungers it is a tranquil place to catch a bit of sun. However should you need to escape the sun the indoor spa pool is just as enticing. This stunning pool is located in the heart of the hotel, carved out of stone with columns reaching up to the ceiling and an open roof it is one of the most stylish spas we visited in Morocco. Babies in particular love the warmth of the indoor pool and you don’t need to worry about the sun – although being in the spa, children are only allowed in at certain times of the day. The sandy beach, bordering the lagoon was a highlight for our daughter – building sandcastles kept her entertained for ages giving us a chance to enjoy the sun. It is worth noting when the tide goes out you need to get a boat across the lagoon to the beach the other side. Strong emphasis is placed on the food at La Sultana, Oualidia. Being on the coast plenty of fresh sea-food features on the menus. Light lunches can be taken in the rustic beach restaurant set on a wooden deck overlooking the beach, while dinner is taken in the Boat House, a wonderful restaurant opening out onto the lagoon.

For bird watching amateurs, it’s the place to behold the beauty of a huge range of bird species, among which: Pink Flamingos, wading birds, Ibis….Lovers of seafood hold Oualidia oysters in especially high esteem.

I’M BORED (…& for children)… Swimming and playing on the beach.

CHILDREN’S CLUB… No children’s club.
