Our Review

Ultra stylish, the Prince Maurice is one of the most fabulous hotels on the island. The fact that all rooms are suites speaks volumes – nothing about this hotel is standard. Every suite is sensational, from the stilted Junior Suites to the Senior Beach Suites with their own private pools. From its sunken marble baths to the floating restaurant in its own private lagoon, this hotel oozes chic. Lounging by the pool makes you feel like you are living in a Vogue shoot and the Guerlain Spa caters for every ‘model’s’ needs. Luckily and surprisingly for such a chic hotel your little ones are made just as welcome as you are. A few Junior Suites are interconnecting – perfect for families or you can take a Senior Beach Suite and put your children in the sitting room, these are right on the beach front and come with a small private pool. A small number of both the Junior and Senior Suites are on stilts over the lagoon – however these rooms wouldn’t suit families with young children.

The hotel is exceptional and the excellent service is a reflection of this. Your every whim, is answered almost before you have even thought of it. Children will probably be more than happy to entertain themselves on the beach with beach toys provided by the hotel while you lie back on your sunbed and wait for an attendant to appear with cold drinks and a bottle of water with which to spritz yourself. However if your children are the sort to crave a little more entertaining the Les Petits Princes Kids Club will fit the bill. A wonderful kids club open daily from 9am to 9pm and takes children from four to eleven years. Younger children can also attend but will need a baby-sitter with them. A huge range of activities to suit different age groups is put on daily including fishing, crafts, beach activities and trips out. The Kids Club has its own children’s pool, a playground an inside play room and a restaurant where children can have lunch and dinner if they wish to. If parents feel they need something to keep them entertained to the hotel has two flood lit tennis courts, an air-conditioned squash court, access to two 18-hole championship golf courses located at the Prince Maurice’s sister hotel. Together with two excellent restaurants The Prince Maurice, a Relais & Chateaux property, is everything a top hotel should be.

Suitable for: As a quieter hotel we recommend if for less 'boisterous' children

        Customer Reviews

        A dream holiday

The hotel never felt too busy and had very good staff/guest ratio. The breakfasts were great for families with plenty of choice. Our two girls enjoyed the Kids Club which allowed us plenty of time to relax and the lovely sandy beach had shallow sea which was therefore safe for young children. The rooms were spacious and well appointed but we moved from the 1st floor suite we were in to a ground floor one as the balcony wasn’t that safe for young children. We felt the hotel was very safe and there was plenty of visible security although our girls are old enough to eat with us so we didn’t need to leave them in the room by themselves. Although quite a grownup hotel we felt comfortable here with our children. It is a resort with an international flavour with guests, in the main, seeking relaxation. As parents we tried to respect this and as such had a great time. As a family we ‘pushed the boat out’ on this holiday spending more than previously. We all agree that it was a dream holiday, and we have always had good family holidays- so it lived up to our expectations. We made one point to the management. The evening meal service was slow, if you arrived when the restaurant opened at 7.30 pm you could not expect to leave before 9.30 pm. The Kids Club finishes at 9.00 pm, meaning that one parent had to leave to collect the children and bring them to the restaurants. The service needs to be more flexible for families.
