Our ReviewProviding all the modern comforts of home surrounded by wonderful Zanzibari culture. Beautiful handmade furniture and intricate brass lanterns, gentle arches and beautiful antiques that adorn all hallways and walkways are simply get magnificently enhanced by the rich gold colours and soft whites and creams that blend together so subtly. Staff dressed in flowing golden robes and elegant patterns seem to float by and hardly a whisper is heard. Baraza is simply beautiful. Beautiful gardens full of rich colours, pink and purple bougainvillea, swaying palm trees all add to the already high standards of luxury to be found here. Now although the above sounds as if you wouldn’t dare take children there and have the quietness and peace disrupted, Baraza is actually fabulous for children and caters extremely well for them (and parents alike of course!). The two-bedroom villas are perfect for families and are situated close to the Kids Club areas. The villas have ample space for the kids to spread out in and with the added bonus of private plunge pools, the kids don’t have to go far to make a splash and squeal in delight. Each villa has a television and the hotel has a collection of DVD’s that can provide hours of entertainment for the kids during the hottest hours of the day or just to quiet them down in the evenings. Although the two-bedroom villas are not directly on the beach, each villa has its own “reserved” space on the beach so you will never be left short of a shady spot to sit under. Baraza has a beautiful long, sandy beach and the sea here is tidal, so during low tide the kids are able to go on a reef walk (accompanied by parents of course!) and delight in the wonders of the ocean from above. To keep the kids entertained during the day and also to give you a bit of some quiet time, the hotel has a great kids club and babysitters are also easily arranged.
Offering a few restaurants, the chef at Baraza has got it just right. The food was probably some of the best I had whilst on the island. From tasty prawn cocktail starters, to gorgeous Mediterranean pasta and themed evenings where local and international styles and tastes are infused perfectly, the food is undeniably just another tick in the box. Kids are easily and well catered for here at Baraza with a great selection of food that they will enjoy, anything from lasagne, stuffed pancakes, pasta and some yummy desserts are bound to be a hit! If you can or do choose to leave the peaceful sanctuary of your villas to engage in a little more activity whilst the kids are creating a storm in the kids club, there is a great choice of things to do. Lounge by the fabulous pool, or take a walk along the beautiful beach, treat yourself to a treatment at the gorgeous Frangipani spa, or get a little wet at their water sports centre. For the kids besides the kids club, the beautiful beach can provide hours of entertainment for them, from building sandcastles to just tiring themselves out – Baraza provides the Ultimate Family Hideaway!
