    Family Hotels in France

France is fantastically diverse. Head to the super-chic Mediterranean coastline for superb shopping and some wonderful restaurants, or go in land to discover hidden Bastides surrounded by their own vineyards. Or to the Alps, often thought of as a winter destination, but which are lovely in the summer with crystal clear streams and green grass valleys.   Picnicing in the mountains works for all the family and the Alps have masses to do to keep you all happy.

    When to Travel

From early May to the middle of October tends to be the best time to visit.  As with all Mediterranean destinations August can be very hot and therefore probably not ideal for very young children.  May, June and September are wonderful months to visit when the days are lovely and warm and the school holiday crowds aren’t around.

Whilst there are nice beaches around Saint Tropez these can be very busy so we don’t really recommend the South of France for families after a pure beach holiday.  This is probably more a destination for parents wanting beautiful countryside, fantastic little villages with delicious restaurants and wonderful food.  Here it is easy to get out and about to visit charming local markets, tour vineyards and probably a chance for Mummy to nip off into Nice, Cannes or Aix En Provence to do some retail therapy whilst Daddy looks after the nippers.

    Country Info

Very easy to get to.  Driving from the UK is an option.  Alternatively you can take Eurostar down to the south coast or fly with most of the low cost carriers to Nice and Marseilles.

    Suggested Itineraries

We know it is often difficult, with the huge number of hotels out there, to know which one to go for, which combines with which and what sort of costs they are going to be. Here we have put together a few of our favourite options to give you a starting point. Any of these options can be changed, tweeked or added to so please do ask. The prices are per person and include international flights and private transfers. As the rates at all hotels change a great deal from their High Seasons (i.e the most popular times of the year to be there) to their Low Seasons (they often have great discounts at this time) we have based the 'From' costs on a good time of year to be in the country, the dates are included in the text at the bottom. Please do call us for a quote based on your dates.
